CHANEL NAIL COLOUR IN 'EXPRESSION' (635)

Expression (635) is one of the new, limited edition nail colours released alongside Chanel's new Rouge Allure Gloss range.  The other is called Exception (639) [to be reviewed next, but is pictured in this previous haul post].  There is another limited edition shade, called Intention (a pearlescent beige), which I don't think is released here in Australia.  Better for the wallet me thinks. ;)

Colour & Finish

Expression is described as a strawberry red.  It has a cream finish.

Coverage, Consistency & Application

This beauty is a one-coat wonder!  Yesss!  (Only one coat was applied on my nails in this post).  Application is a breeze.  The consistency is just right (neither too thick or too thin) and it 'self-levels' well and colour is applied evenly.  Dry time is quick, too. ^_^

All Chanel nail polishes are formaldehyde-free, toluene-free and DBP-free.

Packaging

Chanel nail polishes come with a plastic, square cap which other than for aesthetic purposes, you can use to rest your finger tip on as you apply on the nail polish.

The applicator brush is thin, which is great for precise application and also suits all nail shapes and sizes as big, flat, square edged brushes may not work for those with more of a curved-shape at the cuticle ends and/or have smaller, narrower nails.

Comparison Swatches

For reference, all nail swatches were applied with a single coat.  I have medium, olive (~NC30) skin tone.

Below are the comparison swatches and were photographed in full sun.  Hopefully you can see the subtle differences! >_<  Out of all of them, I'd say that Expression is a more neutral to cool-toned red.  It is bright, but a little less bright than Chanel's Rouge Rubis and OPI's Big Apple Red.  The latter two are warmer and lighter in colour.  Chanel Pirate is the deepest and clearly has a blue/cool undertone.

Overall

Expression is a nice-to-have.  The formula and application are excellent, but the shade isn't unique.  It would suit all skin tones though and I like that it has enough depth and coverage in it so that the hanging edge of your nails isn't too obvious even with a single coat compared to Chanel Rouge Rubis for example).
