Tag Heuer Watch Worn by Steve McQueen Sold For $800,000


     A watch worn by Steve McQueen in the 1971 film Le Mans sold for nearly $800,000 at an auction of film memorabilia!  The Tag Heuer Monaco has a black alligator skin strap and a stylish retro 60s style blue face. It was the first ever automatic and square cased chronograph watch. 
 
















  

     The movie, set in Monaco, focuses on the 24 hours of the Le Mans car race.  McQueen wearing the wristwatch helped the brand to become a favorite of motor racing drivers and fans around the world according to Inquisitor.  At the time the movie came out, McQueen was budding into one of Hollywood’s biggest stars.  The star of other films including The Magnificent Seven, The Great Escape, and The Thomas Crown Affair, McQueen was the highest paid movie star in the world in 1974.
