Intimate Garden Lunch for Mother's Day

I think we all can agree that Mother's day 2020 will be different for many of us.  Some of us will be celebrating by social distancing from the people that we love.  Especially our moms!!  

I for one, had planned to celebrate this Mother's day by having Mom fly in from Florida so she could be with the rest of our family here in Jersey.  Unfortunately, that will have to wait for another time.

During this quarantine, we've all had more time to focus on family and those that we love, even if we can’t be with them. I may not be able to physically celebrate with my mother this year, but I am certainly showing her my appreciation and love by hosting an intimate garden lunch in her honor - And share virtually with my sweet Mom.  

This holiday, it’s all about keeping it simple and using things that I already have to set a table in Mom's honor.

I set out to create something simple and intimate that we can all recreate in our own backyards.  For this table, I used Ardea Homes Azure wipe clean placemats... and I love (LOVE!) the results! Take a look:

For this intimate garden lunch, I went for a more casual feel with a touch of rustic.  I started by placing a plain white table runner on the center of the table and added an eye-catching floral arrangement filled with freshly picked lilacs from our garden.  The purple shade pairs beautifully with the blue placemats.  Vintage accessories such as salt and pepper shakers and bowl add a bit of shimmer, while faux figs add a pop of color and texture.

For the place setting, I started with Ardea Homes Azure placemats as my foundation, casual white plates by Mikasa, vintage silver plate flatware by Oneida, Glassware from Magnolia Home and lilac napkins from Sferra.

Can you picture yourself in this delightful garden with your sweet Mom this Sunday?  I sure can!!!  And when things get back to normal, this will be exactly where Mom and I will be catching up, enjoying a delicious meal and having a glass of Sangria.
