OKAY, FUNS OVER! GO BACK TO WORK

I got some news from the local weather quack first thing on e mail this morning that just made my whole day:

Dear Guy,
Yesterday saw record setting heat and its dry and hot for us again today. Highs will soar into the 90s with low humidity and only a very small chance for cooling showers.

Looks like my Pole Beans are not going to make it through the heat. Kind of pisses me off but not much I can do about it. The plants are trying hard--they are still putting on blooms but the hot sun is shriveling the beans before they can mature. I have been pouring the water to them ever day but it just ain't helping. I should have had another couple of weeks of season. It just got too hot too quick this year.

But one thing about okra and blackeyed peas..when it gets hot they just get goin'. Seems like they are saying "bring it on!" I must say that this is the best stand of peas that I have ever grown. Every plant is loaded with peas and still blooming. And, if the heat keeps up I reckon I will be eating peas in a couple of weeks when ordinarily I wouldn't be expecting to start picking until July. Silver lining in the cloud of hot air and dust, huh?

I'll be back in a bit so y'all come back now, heah?
